So once again I am embarking on a pointless journey to a distant land called South Carolina. This time for no reason better than it’s my Birthday and it’s Canadian Thanksgiving.  This time I’m only going to be accompanied by my faithful companion, Bear!

Obviously, this is going to remind people that BMovie 2 is nowhere in sight.  Well good news and bad news. Good news is that I’m personally going to finish BMovie 2. Bad news is that I can’t do it until I get back home from my trip, which will be 2-3 weeks from now. Either way, we apologize for the super lame delays on BMovie 2. On the bright side, we’ll have even more footage from this trip as Tyler will be joining me!

As for Spike & Barley Play, I went ahead and edited more parts of Favourite Moments. I plan to upload these while I’m abroad in the United States. Hopefully they keep you guys entertained until I get back and we can record more.

Incase you’ve been living under a rock, go check out the first episode of Season 4 of Spike & Barley Play! We played an old wad that nobodies ever heard of, it was a wad that Spike and I played way before the incarnation of Spike & Barley Play!  So go check it out!

Also, for those wondering about B Movie II, it hasn’t been forgotten about. We’ve been running into some serious render issues, so we might have to render it in multiple parts. Brandon’s been pretty busy as of lates as well, so we’re not sure about a release date yet. You’ll know as soon as we do!

In January, the plan was I was going to get in a car with a tiny man and drive to Barley’s house in Ottawa to hang out for a few days and eat burgers and play video games. In the midst of all the excitement leading up to the big event, our creativity kicked in and we had an idea to shoot real life footage of people! B-Movie was an idea that manifested itself from hours of Skype calls and eventually my camera slowly found it’s way into my suitcase and squarely pointed at Barley’s beautiful face. Upon the release of B-Movie, the spirit of our filmed shenanigans carried onto the Youtube channel with inspired clips like Pass the Salt, Double Work, Touch of Barley and Cinco Cinco, and with that, our viscous obsession with the camera led us to this point.

With our bags packed, Bear tucked away in the Mustang and an open road ahead of us, we set out to capture something that has been in the making for the past 6 years; a magical friendship finally being completed, and new friends being added to the family. B-Movie II has surpassed our expectations, weighing in at around 1h 20m in length and was shot in glorious 1080p (will be available online in 720p streaming, 1080p version may be available for download). Everything we’ve captured on a camera has inspired us, and lead to our first full length movie. We hope you’ll enjoy B-Movie II: Bear Does America coming July 6th 2012. We will not be hosting it on the Youtube channel because Youtube doesn’t like good music.

Spike and I have decided to essentially pull the plug on scheduled Spike & Barley Play. We want to go back to roots, when we played games for fun and not for visual entertainment. This does mean a lot less Spike & Barley Play, but it also means we’re going to start doing our own solo content and content with friends on our own channels.

I felt as though I really needed to make sure people felt the video did us justice as to what Spike and I have become to you guys. Two friends playing games and inviting the world to join along. I know some people have already expressed to me that they’re unsubscribing. However, I hope that everybody can enjoy us for who we are individually and not just for the chemistry between Spike and I.

I will be still doing LP’s, collabs, streaming more, Barley Animated Shorts, etc… Spike will also be doing LP’s as well as various other videos on his channel. My channel is still NewfZ but if you haven’t done so yet, go subscribe to Spike’s now!

We had the option to go out and get drunk at a party last night, but we decided we’d rather spend it with you guys on Twitch. And why shouldn’t we? It’s thanks to you that we’ve had such an amazing 2011, I would have never predicted this last New Years. Hell, last New Years I was still making The Residents and Spike n’ Barley Play was just an idea I was trying to convince Spike to do. 1 year later, I’m just as sleep deprived and we’ve made our subscriber count go tenfold. Last January we had just under 1000 subscribers, tonight the channel should be hitting near 10,000 subscribers. That’s insane, but we only have you guys to thank for it.

Last night I also let everybody know that we’ll be doing a Cry of Fear stream in February. Spike and myself will be doing the co-op campaign leading up to the release of the mod. I’ll be putting up a video later this month with more information on that, but I can officially say that we’re both super psyched for it.

We had planned on sending out Christmas letters for all those donators who donated back in November for our headsets, but I thought it’d be a little more personal if I sent them out for our 1 year birthday of “Spike n’ Barley Play” instead. I’ll have a video of me sending those out in the next few weeks as it gets closer to January 21st.

I suppose I should also use this time to address a long unanswered question, my Resident Evil machinimas. I had a lot of fun and made a lot of friends making those, and essentially it’s what started my channel and potentially set Spike and I on our year long roller coaster ride. As much fun as I had making them, they also brought a lot of sleepless nights and added a lot of stress to a few of my friendships. I decided to throw in the towel while I still could. I might return to machinima one day, but right now I want to enjoy what’s in front of me.

Anyways, back on topic. It’s been one crazy trip, and I’ve made a lot of cool friends along the way, so here’s to 2012. Hope to see you all at the next New Years.
